Batang Ai Power Generation was Sarawak’s first hydroelectric plant, commenced operations in 1985.

It has functioned smoothly for over 35 years, delivering up to 108 MW of power to Kuching via a purpose-built 275kV transmission line.

The units are undergoing modernisation exercise to fully automate the operating and protection system for remote operational control.
